Inpatient Program · Ages 55 and Older

Later life can bring some of its most difficult emotional challenges, and some of its most treatable ones. The Monarch Senior Adult Program at Hospital for Behavioral Medicine was designed specifically for adults 55 and older who are experiencing a mental health crisis that cannot be safely managed at home or in an outpatient setting. Our team understands that aging brings a unique combination of medical, emotional, and social factors that require a clinical approach built around the whole person – not just the diagnosis.
We provide a structured, safe, and respectful environment where seniors receive individualized inpatient psychiatric care, medication evaluation and management, and therapeutic support – all coordinated by a team dedicated to the needs of older adults.
Who This Program Is For
This program is appropriate for adults 55 and older who are experiencing significant emotional or behavioral changes that are affecting their safety, daily functioning, or quality of life. Many people, and their families, do not recognize that what they are going through is treatable. It is.
You or your loved one may benefit from this program if experiencing:
- Depression, persistent sadness, or loss of interest in daily life
- Anxiety, excessive worry, or agitation that is difficult to manage
- Suicidal thoughts or behaviors
- Significant mood changes, including symptoms of bipolar disorder
- Confusion, disorientation, or behavioral changes that may be related to an underlying psychiatric condition
- Paranoia, fearfulness, or symptoms of psychosis
- Emotional distress related to a major life transition, illness, grief, or loss
- Difficulty managing psychiatric symptoms alongside other medical conditions
You do not have to wait for a crisis to reach out. If you are concerned, a free, confidential evaluation is available at any time.
