Inpatient Program · Adults 18 and Older

When a mental health crisis reaches a point where it can no longer be safely managed at home, inpatient care can be the most important step toward recovery. The Foundations Adult Mental Health Program at Hospital for Behavioral Medicine provides structured, short-term inpatient psychiatric care for adults age 18 and older who need a safe, supportive environment to stabilize, receive treatment, and begin moving forward.
Our team works with each patient to understand what brought them here, what they need to get better, and what a meaningful recovery looks like for them – not just clinically, but in the context of their life.
Who This Program Is For
The Foundations Adult Mental Health Program is designed for adults experiencing a mental health crisis or significant psychiatric symptoms that require more support than outpatient care can provide. If you or someone you love has been struggling and it feels like things have reached a turning point, you do not have to face it alone.
You or your loved one may benefit from this program if experiencing:
- Depression, including major depressive disorder and bipolar depression
- Bipolar disorder, including manic or mixed episodes
- Anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder
- Schizophrenia or other psychotic disorders, including hallucinations or delusional thinking
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Suicidal thoughts, self-harm, or a recent crisis episode
- Significant psychiatric symptoms that are worsening or no longer responding to current treatment
If you are unsure of whether inpatient care is the right level of support, our team can help you figure that out. A free, confidential assessment is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – no appointment or referral needed.
